Quality Care
Caring is our business. Two of the many things of which we are most proud are the care that we provide to our residents, and how we interact with each other as staff. We truly believe that if we take pride in our workplace and what we do for a living it is reflected in the level of care we provide
Nursing Services

Our Nursing Staff dedicates itself to a high standard of elder care. Its primary aim is to maximize the independence of each Resident and to provide as much support and comfort as possible. The Resident Care Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Nursing Department. A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is on duty 24-hours per day, 7-days a week.
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Health Care Aides (HCAs) are assigned to provide nursing care during all shifts. Nursing staff monitor resident needs, and assistance is given whenever needed (e.g. personal hygiene and grooming, mobility, use of toilet facilities, etc.).
Resident independence is encouraged and supported. Our staff are well trained and provide excellent care for individuals requiring increasingly complex care that may include oxygen therapy and extensive wound management.
End-of-Life Care

Palliative care (compassionate end-of-life care) is provided to a resident who is terminally ill. The individual and/or his/her substitute decision-maker have made the choice that treatment to extend life is no longer the primary goal. We have trained nursing staff who, following doctors’ orders, make residents as comfortable as possible at the end of their lives
On-Site Family Physician Visits

Residents are also followed by their own Family Physician and Cedar Creek has partnered with a few medical clinics in Lethbridge that conduct on site rounds weekly, and visit Residents in their rooms. A Resident/family/POA may arrange an appointment to meet with the doctor through the Licensed Practical Nurse.
Family members are expected to accompany residents to health care appointments outside Adaptacare facility. Families are responsible for arranging outside medical appointments and Adaptacare facility staff will assist in arranging necessary transportation, if needed.
Recreational Programs

Our Resident and Family Liaison plans and organize many special events and activities for the Residents. These programs are therapeutically designed to meet social, intellectual, physical, spiritual and emotional needs. The programs provide stimulating activities and one-on-one interaction, benefitting mental and physical wellbeing.
Residents are encouraged to participate in whatever programs appeal to them, no matter what their level of ability. Family members are welcome to join their loved ones during programs. Residents are made aware of upcoming events or notices, and monthly calendars are posted in the bulletin on each floor at the beginning of each month. Copies are available per request at the Front Desk.
Temporary Living Option

Our temporary living option program is for designated SL3/4 residents either coming from the hospital or at home who are looking for temporary assisted living option while waiting for placement to their preferred facility.
Community Transition Beds
with Respite Care Program

Cedar Creek has ten beds contracted to Alberta Health Services for Community Transition Beds to which a loved one can be admitted, to a maximum of 90 days. This program is especially useful for residents post hospital stay and recovering from illness or surgery. More information is available from Community Access Centre serving the Lethbridge area.
Embedded into this program is Respite Care designed to provide temporary relief to family who are caring for a family member at home.
